A flight is a flight, right?
Well, you could see it that way, but if you want to enjoy quality, luxury, and have a positive experience overall, you need to put a little more importance and emphasis on who you book with. If you’re flying short-haul, you could easily go down the line of a budget airline, and that would easily get you to your destination in a no frills way, saving you cash too, but if you’re flying long-haul, you might find that extra luxury is needed, in order to make your journey as comfortable as possible.
There are countless airlines in the aviation industry, and that is good news for you, because it means plentiful choice when it comes to air fares and flight times, but how do you know which companies are great value for money and comfort, and which are not that great at all? Trial and error could come into it, but do you really want to ruin your time away by trying a new company and wishing you’d paid just a little more for quality?
In order to answer that question that many travellers have, there are industry awards and standards published every year, which gives travellers the answer to the question of which airlines are the best to travel with. The World Airline Awards is held annually, and is the gold standard when it comes to the best airlines on the planet. They have recently been announced for 2016, and many of the world’s biggest and best known airlines are in the top ten. It’s no surprise that most of them are the long-haul specialists, but if you’re planning on taking a trip anytime soon, check out the top ten.
- Emirates
- Qatar Airways
- Singapore Airlines
- Cathay Pacific
- ANAs
- Etihad Airways
- Turkish Airlines
- EVA Air
- Qantas Airways
- Lufthansa
These airlines travel the length and breadth of the planet, from Dubai, to Australia, New York to Istanbul, Africa to Asia, basically anywhere you want to go, these airlines will have it covered. Because most of them are long-haul specialists, you can expect extra luxuries and perks for your journey, such as extra leg room, in-flight entertainment, and meals on-board. Turkish Airlines for instance, I have travelled with several times and I really can’t fault them for quality and the experience. I was fed several times throughout my four hour flight! I have also flown with Emirates, and certainly wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
The fact these airlines have won awards speaks volumes, so the next time you’re booking a flight, look for these airlines first.
